Tourism in Bahamas

The Bahamas is considered to be one of the top tourist destinations in the world. As a result, the ministry of tourism, Bahamas, have stressed on the importance of warm accommodation and safety for the tourists and visitors.

THINK is a program that has been created by the primary authority for Bahamas' promotion and tourism marketing. The acronym of THINK is Bahamas Tourism & Hospitality Information Network. In addition, the chief source of forecasting, archipelago's tourism research and analysis of tourism in Bahamas is none other than THINK.

The information given out by THINK will assist the partner industries to hire tracking mechanisms as well as enable standards-driven service. All these would improve the experience of the visitors in Bahamas. Moreover, it will also offer the government as well as the media the modern analysis and main metrics that would aid in reporting the present business of the tourism in Bahamas.

The beaches in this island are thousand miles long and the tourism in Bahamas is one of the biggest industries in the island. This industry earns about $1.5 billion each year! Of course, this industry has its ups and downs. During the middle of the 1800s, the tourism industry in Bahamas began and this industry was supported by the government for steamship service and hotel construction. In the 1920s, this industry did well again when vacationers from the United States started to visit Bahamas.

After the casinos and beach resorts in Cuba had shut down (in the year 1961), Bahamas started to have tourists in abundance. The Government of Bahamas then began to think of ways to increase the tourists every year. The harbor of Nassau housed around six cruises. Ultimately, a bridge was built that connected Nassau to the lovely Paradise Island.

Bahamas received back up in the form of investment, to Paradise Island, from Sun International. Afterwards, a number of resorts were created and this enhanced the tourism industry in Bahamas.

Perhaps the most significant role in the island is played by the tourism industry of this island. Since the hospitality sector is extremely important in Bahamas, most of the ventures were started to make new hotels or reconstruct old ones.

The tourism business in the Bahamas is no small industry. It constitues about 4% of the total domestic product of the country. It is because of the tourism boom in the country that an amount of $1.3 billion is generated every year. Moreover, as many as 3.2 million tourists come to visit the island each year.

This island is lovely and beautiful. It is no wonder that Bahamas is extremely popular among the tourists all over the world!
